Thank You
This message is to each of you, individually, for the support you have given me throughout this campaign for the District 51 School Board. To every donor, educator, district employee, volunteer, and voter who shared and trusted in our vision for District 51 schools—thank you. This connection does not stop here. I would ask that you continue to provide me with feedback, questions, and reflection as we continue to work together for our students. As we move forward, in unity, with everyone in our community, I am committed to first listen and then respond while keeping our students at the center of every discussion. As I determine how to organize these platforms of communication, I will inform you of how this may look. If I failed to respond to a question during this campaign, please reach out to me, again. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for your trust and encouragement. I am deeply honored to serve this community as the District 51 School Board Director for District E. ABOUT VICKI
For four generations, my family has called the Western Slope and Mesa County home. Through my 30 year career as a teacher and principal, I’ve seen what schools mean to our community. I am humbled and incredibly grateful for the support I have been given during this campaign. We need a change in board leadership. We need a voice that truly represents this community. We need someone who will stand for: ❖Rigorous development in preparing students to get jobs after graduation. *focused development and expansion of Career and Technical Education (CTE) *increase diverse options for Work-Based Learning experiences *focused development of 'professional skills' starting in elementary schools ❖Expansion and development of school options within District 51 *STEM Learning Pathways, K-12 (fastest growing, best paying jobs) *Expansion of Bilingual Pathways (expands career opportunities, most employable) *Art focused curriculum or Pathways (creative industries, among fastest growing job sectors) ❖Acknowledge and address unsafe behaviors happening in many classrooms ❖Acknowledge and address high #s of chronic absenteeism (36% of students) |
